Premduth Goohiram. 42 years old, also known as Vikram, who lived alone in his house in Route Bassin, Quatrebornes, met a tragic end when a fire broke out in his house on Monday evening, October 11. Firefighters from Quatre-Bornes, who were alerted to come and contain a fire at the Goohiram family, discovered the body of Premduth Goohiram on his bed upstairs.
It was around 10 pm this Monday, October 10, that the fire station of Quatre-Bornes was alerted of a fire at the home of the Goohiram family in Route Bassin, Quatre-Bornes. The house occupied by Premduth Goohiram alone on the second floor was engulfed in flames. Technicians from the Central Electricity Board were dispatched to the scene of the fire to cut off the power supply to the house. After the fire was brought under control, the fire department found the charred body of Premduth Goohiram lying on his bed.
His body was later taken to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital, Candos for an autopsy. The autopsy, performed by Dr. Prem Chamane, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to excessive burning. The statements of his relatives were recorded. The victim, they said, had a penchant for the bottle.
An investigation was opened at the level of the police station of Quatre-Bornes to determine the origin of the fire that led to the death of this fifty-year-old.
The funeral of Premduth Goohiram took place in the afternoon of Tuesday, October 11. He was cremated at the crematorium of Trois Mamelles.
