Must Read

To identify capacity building and cyber expertise opportunities with the Mauritius Police Force; the Deputy Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine and Commander David Lawes of the United Kingdom (UK) are visiting Mauritius. The objective of this visit is to exchange information with the Mauritius Police Force (MPF) and identify areas where the UK could support the delivery of Mauritius’ law enforcement strategic plan.

During this visit, the DCC Jardine and Commander Lawes will meet senior stakeholders from the MPF, including the Commissioner of Police, members of the local police force and law enforcement agencies.

Security, efficient law enforcement and cyber are critical sectors for both the UK and Mauritius. The UK government is proud of the excellent and long-standing relationship between our two police forces and looks forward to forging an even closer and stronger partnership. The UK is at the forefront of high quality and innovative policing for the 21st  century and is keen to consider areas where Britain might support Mauritius in the implementation of its Police Strategic Plan.

Throughout this mission, DCC Jardine and Commander Lawes, who both have extensive domestic and international experiences, will hear first-hand about the structure of the MPF, the critical role it plays in ensuring law enforcement in Mauritius and its policing strategies. DCC Jardine and Commander Lawes will visit various sites, including the Police Training School. These visits will enable them to identify opportunities for cooperation, including in leadership, command and control and cyber.

On this note, the British High Commission in Mauritius is delighted to welcome the team and stated that ‘The purpose of the Police is to uphold the law; to prevent crime; to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law; to uphold peace; to protect, help and reassure the community; and to be seen to do this with integrity, common sense and sound judgement. These are core values that we share with our Mauritian counterparts. DCC Jardine and Commander Lawes’ visit demonstrates the commitment of the British government in  supporting Mauritius’ ambitions in terms of security and law enforcement. We look forward to deepening our partnership with the Mauritian Government on these important issues. ’ said the British High Commissioner to Mauritius, H.E. Mrs Charlotte Pierre.
