Premier League: Arsenal Wins Flagship Match Against Manchester City

Must Read

The clash of the 8th day of the Premier League tipped in the final moments in favor of Arsenal against Manchester City (1-0) yesterday at the Emirates Stadium. In the second half, the Gunners were more enterprising despite an unspectacular game… before the winning goal from Martinelli’s shot (87th), deflected by Aké into his own net! With this result, Arsenal climb to 2nd place in the table, level with leaders Tottenham, while City occupy 3rd place, 1 point behind.

Tottenham took a provisional lead in the Premier League with a 0-1 win at Luton. Tottenham, still unbeaten in their last six league games, are now two points clear of Manchester City and three ahead of Arsenal, the two teams who meet on Sunday (5.30pm) for the big clash of the 8th day of the Premier League.

On Sunday, Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Brighton on Matchday 8. Surprised by Adingra (20th) after a poor throw-in from Van Dijk and some poor positioning from Alisson, the Reds hit back 6 minutes before the break with a brace from Salah (40th, 45th+1st). After a huge miss by Gravenberch, with a shot on the bar alone in front of the empty net, Jürgen Klopp’s men were punished with Dunk’s equalizer (78th).

Newcastle also drew with West Ham (2-2). Soucek’s goal (8th) quickly put the Magpies behind, but they showed character in the second half, with Isak (57th, 62nd) scoring twice in the space of 5 minutes. But Kudus (89th) saved the day for the Hammers! Liverpool are now provisionally in 3rd place, while Newcastle remain in 8th.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay (26, 5 appearances and 2 goals in the Premier League this season) was given a hero’s welcome by his coach Erik ten Hag in the 87th minute, scoring a brace from the spot against Brentford (2-1) in the Premier League on Saturday. A magical moment for the Red Devil.

Here are the standings after Matchday 8.
