Popstar Taylor Swift Bags Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ With Eras Tour Smashing All Records

Must Read

Following the start of a world-record-breaking tour and her ascent to the top of the streaming charts in 2023, Taylor Swift earned praise on Wednesday when Time magazine named the mega pop sensation its “Person of the Year.”

The magazine said in announcing the winner that Swift won the prize in a year that marked the pinnacle of her nearly two decades of fame and influence. It stated that she was the first artist to receive recognition for her achievements as a performer.

During her “Eras Tour,” the 33-year-old musician travelled the globe all year long, showcasing songs from her entire career, shattering attendance records, and improving the economies of every place she stopped at.

“This is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been,” Swift told Time, which has bestowed the award on almost every US president since its inception in 1927.

According to Billboard, the “Eras Tour,” which will travel through Asia, Australia, Europe, and the US in 2024, is expected to break all previous records for the highest grossing tour in history. According to Billboard, it brought in roughly $900 million in revenue in 2023 and earns roughly $14 million in every show.

Due to the unprecedented demand for the US stadium tour last year, resale prices for tickets went as high as $28,000, which sparked lawsuits and a federal investigation into the manner in which online sales were handled. Along with the tour, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” was released, which gave theatres a much-needed boost amid an unimpressive autumn film schedule. Even a comic book about Swift exists.
