Police Sergeant Arrested For Domestic Violence

A sergeant assigned to Special Supporting Unit (SSU) No. 1 was arraigned in Flacq Court on Tuesday, December 27. He is facing a provisional charge of domestic violence. This after he was denounced to the police by his wife, a 48-year-old saleswoman, in a statement made on Friday morning, December 23.

In her complaint, this inhabitant of Riche-Mare, Flacq reported the insults of which she was subject by her husband, 48 years old, at one o’clock in the morning of Friday December 23. That day, she relates, her husband was drunk when he arrived at the house. The police sergeant entered their room and started to insult her. Frightened, the 40-year-old says she immediately left her house and went to her mother’s house, who lives nearby.

When she returned home at about 6:45 a.m. the same day, she thought everything was fine. But after a discussion with her husband, he started to insult her in front of her children. The forty-year-old, who felt humiliated, went to the police station of Flacq around 10 am to denounce her husband for domestic violence.

On Monday morning, December 26, the police sergeant was taken to the police station of Flacq around 1 pm. He was put in presence of the facts, which are reproached to him. After his interrogation, he was allowed to leave the police station on the condition that he would return there for the formalities of his appearance before the court. Thereafter, he was allowed to be released on parole.
