South African jockey, Piere Corne Orffer, knew that the favourite Bold Phoenix is a strong front runner. He took all the necessary steps to race close to the leader with Silver Heritage. Bold Phoenix seemed to have made the break while entering the final straight, but Silver Heritage was the best at the finish. He caught Bold Phoenix and won going away in the last 100m of the race.
