Trained by the duo Patrick Merven and Samraj Mahadia, Juniper Lane finally won after two second places. It was also the first win for English jockey Richard Oliver this season in Mauritius. He is to be credited as he rode Juniper Lane brilliantly. Oliver did not persevere to take the lead and his horse stayed on gamely in the straight to win with outsider Steak And Ale finishing second.
