Mitsui O.S.K Lines Ltd (MOL) and its subsidiary Mitsui O.S.K Passenger Line (MOPAS) announced on Thursday 12 May that a Nippon Maru (Japanese for “Ship of Japan”) cruise line will operate between Japan and Mauritius. This luxury cruise, named Mauritius Precious Cruise, will have Mauritius as its flagship destination with only Japanese passengers from Japan on board. As part of the voyage, the Nippon Maru will leave the port of Yokohama on 15 December 2022 and return on 31 January 2023. Designated ports of call are the Japanese island of Ishigaki, Singapore, Malé in the Maldives, Port Louis, Toamasina in Madagascar, Singapore again, and finally back to Yokohama.

A month and a half cruise that will allow passengers to discover some of the Indian Ocean’s most beautiful treasures, including a three-day stopover in Mauritius from 5 to 8 January 2023. “MOL has been strongly committed to the people and nature of Mauritius for two years now. During the stopover in Mauritius, passengers will have the pleasure of discovering the island’s natural beauty, rich culture and delicious cuisine. We will also organise eco-tours with local guides, as well as other activities such as the Nippon Maru Farming, a deep-sea farming experience,” said Goro Yamashita of MOL (Mauritius) Ltd.

The Nippon Maru has been completely refurbished for its 30th anniversary in 2020. It now features beautiful Ocean View staterooms, and has Cruise Concierges whose role is to ensure the comfort and well-being of passengers during the cruise. To ensure the health and safety of passengers and crew, a series of Covid-19 preventive measures will be strictly followed throughout the voyage, in accordance with the Covid-19 Infection Preventative Measures Manual established by MOL and MOPAS. This manual is based on the recommendations of the Japan Oceangoing Passenger Ship Association, and includes extensive training for the crew on the health measures to be taken on board.

Given its commitment to Mauritius, it is only natural for MOL to make Mauritius the flagship destination for this unique cruise. The company can already assure its future passengers of an extraordinary journey and wonderful memories.
