Matisse’s Paintings At The Blue Penny

Must Read

As part of the bicentenary of the birth of the poet Charles Baudelaire, the Blue Penny Museum will exhibit the works of the famous painter Henri Matisse in Mauritius. The exhibition will be held from April 15 to June 11, 2022. Admission is free.

After Picasso at the Blue Penny, in 2019, Steve Sowamy Director of Samskara fine art, a Frenchman of Mauritian origin, and Emmanuel Richon, curator of the Blue Penny Museum, a Mauritian of French origin, are back with an even more extraordinary exhibition.

Having visited Mauritius in 1841, the country had to pay a fervent tribute to Charles Beaudelaire for the bicentenary of his birth. And for good reason, it is his stays in the Mascarene Islands that inspired the author Les Fleurs du Mal.

Matisse's Painting
The exhibition will run from April 15 to June 11.

Supported by the MCB, the exhibition will present about fifty authentic works of Henri Matisse, some of which are very rare.

The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4:30pm. The museum is closed on Sundays and holidays.
