As promised to Clency Harmon, the Cabinet has decided to allow persons, who have filed with the Truth and Justice Commission, whose cases will be taken to court, as determined by the Land Research and Monitoring Unit, to receive financial assistance up to a predetermined amount from the Ministry of Housing and Physical Planning to cover the costs of litigation. The assistance would be extended to an initial batch of 20 cases, which have already been recommended by the Land Research and Monitoring Unit.

The Ministry of Housing and Land Management will soon issue a call for applications to retain the services of a genealogist for an initial period of six months.

Here is the decision taken on Friday

Cabinet has agreed to allow persons who testified before the Truth and Justice Commission and whose cases shall be lodged in court, as determined by the Land Research and Monitoring Unit, to benefit from financial assistance up to a predetermined amount from the Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning to cover litigation costs. Assistance would be extended in respect of a first batch of 20 cases which have already been recommended by the Land Research and Monitoring Unit.
