Rap & Slam is the new project set up by Kenji Kennedy. The goal? To provide a platform for word lovers. The mixtape will be available for free soon.
The word flies, but the words remain. It is precisely so that the words remain that Kenji Kennedy – who works a lot for the promotion of urban dance, launched this project: “It’s been a long time since we hear more Mauritian rap on the radios. It has been a long time since we heard Mauritian rap music on the radio, and until now it was impossible to listen to slammers outside the events dedicated to this art of oratory. This is how the project was born with the collaboration of the slammer T Well.
And as soon as the call was launched, the organizer was overwhelmed with texts: “In less than a week we received several texts of rap and poetry. We had to make a choice and in the end we retained 10 raps and 10 slams.”
The recording is scheduled for June 18 and 19, explains Kenji: “Once the recording is completed, the texts will appear on an album that will be freely available on download platforms between July or August.”
Note that a second edition of Rap & Slam is planned for the end of the year.
