In July this year, Jane Constance was awarded her LLB from the University of Central Lancashire – England. Winner of ‘The Voice Kids France’ in 2015, the 22-year-old is now making her studies her priority.

Why did you choose to study law?
I’ve had this ambition ever since I was a little girl. My motivation came from the fact that there is a lot of injustice towards people with disabilities like me. Today, with my Bachelor of Law (LLB) in my pocket, I’m better able to defend the rights of the otherwise able.
Do you intend to practice law in Mauritius?
I don’t know if I’m going to return and practice in Mauritius. Only time will tell. For the moment, I’m concentrating on my studies. In September, I’m starting a master’s degree in human resources management. These studies will take me another year, but this master’s degree will set me apart, especially as the legal profession is saturated in Mauritius as elsewhere.
Are you already working?
Yes, I work part-time in the human resources department at my university. And I have to say that this job takes up a lot of my time.
And what about singing?
(Laughs) For the time being, I confess that I’ve put this passion on the back burner, for lack of time and because I prefer to concentrate on my studies. But singing is still part of my life, and I intend to get back into it seriously once I’ve finished my studies.
