Instagram, the most used media platform, has released an array of new features for Android users. In an official blog post, Meta, Instagram’s parent company, declared the addition of Notes, Candid Stories, and Group Profiles, presenting its users with more than one way to connect with their friends and family.
The Instagram ‘Notes’ feature brings a new way of sharing your views on the platform. Users will be able to share their thoughts as text (up to 60 characters) and emojis. To use the Instagram Notes feature, go to your inbox, select your followers or close friends and post it. Like Instagram Stories, Note will also be visible for 24 hours and displayed on the top of the inbox. While the viewers’ responses and reactions will appear in your DMs.
Another recent feature Instagram has announced is ‘Candid Stories’. This feature will notify users to click pictures of what they are doing at the moment. The Candid Stories will be visible only to those users who will share their own Candid Stories. This feature can be turned off under Settings. Meta is seeking to release Candid Stories for Facebook soon. The ‘Candid Stories’ feature is currently under testing.
Instagram has ‘Group Profiles’ that allow users to join new types of profiles and share posts or stories with their friends. The content shared in the group will stay within the group. New Group Profile by clicking the plus (+) icon and selecting Group Profiles.
The ‘Collaborative Collections’ is another feature that is under testing. This feature will allow users to connect with friends “over their shared interests by saving posts to a collaborative collection in your group or 1:1 DMs”. Except for the features that are under testing, the other features are already out.
