In Pailles: 23-Year-Old Dies Of Overdose

Must Read

The lifeless body of a 23-year-old helper was discovered on an abandoned plot of land in Chemin Brûlé, Pailles on the morning of Friday April 5. After forensic technicians examined the site, the corpse was transported to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital in Port-Louis for an autopsy. The cause of death was attributed to acute pulmonary oedema, probably caused by an overdose. The victim would have celebrated his 24th birthday on July 25.

At around 7:15 a.m. on Friday, April 5, following a request, a team of police officers led by Sergeant Caleechurn went to an abandoned lot on Chemin Brûlé in Pailles. The lifeless body of a young man lay on his back. He was already dead. Forensic technicians arrived on the scene shortly after elements of the regular force, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Metropolitan Police’s Southern Division, had secured the area with yellow tape.

After the scene had been thoroughly examined, the corpse was transported to the Dr Jeetoo Hospital morgue on the instructions of Dr Chamane.  Dr. Chamane, who performed the autopsy, attributed the cause of death to acute pulmonary edema, believed to have been caused by an overdose. Samples were taken for analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Reduit.
