In Bambous: Thirty-Year-Old Killed In A Bloody Fight

Must Read

The village of Bambous woke up in shock this Saturday morning of November 27. Barely asleep, some of the villagers were awakened shortly after midnight by the news of a bloody brawl at the Bamboula II Residence, NHDC.

One of the three protagonists of this fight, Pierre Nicolas Manouvallou, 39 years old and resident of St-Martin, Mont Roche, lost his life. Djameel Sandy Mooken, 23 years old from Mont Roche, was seriously injured and was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis. His prognosis is said to be life threatening. Nicolas Marday, 41 years old and a resident of the NHDC, was taken to Victoria Hospital, Candos where he was admitted after receiving first aid. Three suspects have already been arrested and the hypothesis of a settlement of accounts at the origin of this fight is not to be ruled out.

The flashing lights and siren of the ambulance of the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) attracted the attention of some villagers of Bambous, who then followed these vehicles. Police officers from the Bambous police station, who received a request, also went to this location to discover a bloody scene on this road. Three bodies were lying in a pool of blood. When the EMS doctor examined the victims, Nicolas Manouvallou had already given up the ghost. He had a knife in his right hand and three other knives at his side. His Suzuki motorcycle was parked on the road.

Police officers from the Emergency Response Service (ERS) and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Bambous were already at the scene of the attack. Onlookers expressed their anger that the ERS ambulance took more than half an hour to arrive in Bambous

Djameel Mooken and Nicolay Marday were evacuated to Dr Jeetoo and Victoria hospitals respectively. The body of Nicolas Manouvallou was taken to the Candos Hospital morgue after it was examined at the scene of the attack by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, the head of the police forensic department.  The autopsy performed this Saturday morning, November 27, attributed the cause of death of Nicolas Manouvallou to exsanguination following a stab wound to the thigh. He had the right popliteal artery severed.

The investigation in this case is under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Shyam Bansoodep, head of the CID of the western division to know the circumstances of this bloody fight. Three suspects have already been detained, including a 22-year-old from Mont Roche, a 24-year-old from Roches-Brunes and a 34-year-old from Bambous. The three suspects were brought before the Bail and Remand Court this Saturday, November 27.
