Must Read

He allegedly sexually abused his 29-year-old wife from whom he separated late Sunday afternoon, November 21. The 29-year-old man, who works as an optical fitter in the capital, was arrested on Friday, November 26 on a provisional charge of domestic violence after his wife denounced him the same day in a statement made at the police station in Pamplemousses.

In her statement, the woman, who works as a saleswoman in a furniture store in Port-Louis, explained that her relationship was falling apart. She then deserted the marital roof to take up residence with another man in Port-Louis. On Sunday, November 21, around 1 p.m., her husband came to meet her in Port-Louis. He took her to his place of work before assaulting her. The husband in question would have forced her to remove her clothes so that he could take pictures.

He tried to sexually abuse her and she said she screamed at the top of her voice. Her husband then threatened her with a box cutter. In an attempt to defend herself, she injured her hand. Her husband, she adds, broke a fluorescent tube on her head. Afterwards, he brought her home under the influence of alcohol in the Pamplemousses area. She was hit with a belt. The husband, who held a knife in his hand, threatened to kill her.

Her husband then gagged her before going to the kitchen and returning to sexually abuse her.
