I’m Not Going To Réduit, Says Paul Bérenger

Must Read

The leader of the MMM held a press conference this Friday. He said that he is not prepared to listen to the rumours that he could be the new President of the Republic in case a future opposition alliance gets to power. He added that no alliance has been concluded between Labour Party, PMSD and MMM. The MMM leader said that it was not yet possible to reach an agreement on the position of the President of the Republic. The leader of the MMM insists however that the post of Head of State is now fundamental. The President, he adds, is the guarantor of the State and of the separation of powers. He invited his followers not to believe the rumors according to which he will occupy the post of President of the Republic in the wake of an electoral alliance with the PTr and the PMSD.

Bérenger blames GM for no May-Day meeting for opposition parties

Paul Bérenger was questioned on the fact that no opposition parties represented in Parliament will hold a political meeting on May-Day. “I’m saddened by that,” he said. He confirmed Labour Party, PMSD and MMM were unable to organise that event together even though their joint activity on Independence Day was a big success. He puts the blame on the MSM. “The party in power puts various obstacles in our way. We were made to believe that neither Port-Louis nor Vacoas were available,” he said. Paul Bérenger added that “it was only a few days ago that the opposition parties learned that no activity would take place in Port-Louis.” However, he deplored, “it was too late.”
