“Better Together”. This is the theme chosen this year by the multinational company, Huawei, for its competition, ‘Next-Image Awards’. Huawei users from all over the world, including Mauritius, are called upon to submit their photographic and video works for a chance to win one of 70 prizes, including the new HUAWEI P50 and cash prizes of up to $10,000. The deadline for entries has been set for November 30, 2021. In 2017, these contests attracted 2 million entries
To participate, you have to send your shots and videos, exclusively made (or retouched) with a Huawei phone online. Entrants have until November 30, 2021 to submit their photos and/or videos. One grand prize winner will win 10,000 USD.
This year, there are ten categories: “Portraits” – whether of yourself, a loved one or a model, submit your best portraits; “Monochrome” – Use black and white photography to reflect the mood, fun or originality of the shot; “Color” – Show your true colors by expressing yourself through smartphone photography; “Snapshot – Create a snapshot that tells a powerful story, or capture an important memory forever; Night – Capture fun moments at night or in low light; Telephoto – Use your telephoto lens to focus on important details and show the clarity of your enlarged photos; “Super Wide Angle – Use your mobile photography skills to make viewers feel like they are seeing the scene with their own eyes rather than through a photograph; Super Macro – Explore different subjects and macro photography techniques, while showing off your camera’s ability to capture small details up close; “Story creator” – Shoot and produce a moving film of up to 15 minutes in length; “Storyteller” – use a sequence of 3-9 photos that tell a story, express an emotion, trace a change or highlight a trend.
The Student Focus Award, open to students between the ages of 18 and 24, the talented winners will not only receive the next HUAWEI P50, but also $1,000 from the NEXT-IMAGE Creative Fund, which will help them reach their artistic potential.
