The Ministry of Education has indicated that pre-primary, primary and secondary schools and vocational training centers will be closed this Wednesday, April 26. This is due to the heavy rainfall warning issued by Meteo Mauritius.
A Heavy Rain Warning remains in force in Mauritius.
The atmospheric conditions are still moist and unstable over our region.
After a temporary break in the morning, other active clouds are expected during the day, causing moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms especially over the Southern part of the island, to the East and over the Central Plateau. The showers may be heavy at times in certain regions, causing temporary water accumulations.
These showers will likely spread in the other sectors by the end of the day and in the evening.
The visibility will be reduced due to fog and during the moderate to heavy thundery showers.
The public is advised to:
- remain in safe places and avoid open areas, hikings, sea ventures and sheltering under trees during thunderstorms.
- avoid places prone to water accumulation, riverbanks and other water courses which may be flooded and certain mountain slopes prone to landslide.
- be very cautious on the roads due to reduced visibility resulting from heavy rains and fog patches.
