Must Read

A forty-year-old man from Curepipe was placed in detention on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 8, for having called his 68-year-old mother a prostitute. Exasperated by being mistreated and humiliated by her son, the sixty-year-old decided to break her silence on the day of the celebration of the International Women’s Day. She filed a complaint for elder abuse at the police station of Curepipe on Tuesday, March 8.

In her statement made around 12:30 pm, this Curepipian reported that the day before, Monday March 7 around 7:30 pm, she was insulted by her 42-year-old son. This last one, who was under the influence of alcohol and lives at the same address, arrived and started to insult her. The mother felt even worse when her son, she said, called her a prostitute.

The 60-year-old told investigators at the Curepipe police station that this is not the first time she has been abused by her son. In the late afternoon of the same day, a team of police officers, led by Sergeant Heerah, proceeded to the arrest of this suspect. He was taken into custody at the Curepipe police station.

This Wednesday morning, March 8, the man was brought before the Curepipe court where he was charged with the provisional offence of elder abuse. The police did not object to his release on parole.
