This is what Me Yatin Varma, the lawyer of Jean Hubert Célerine, alias Franklin, declared when he left the court on Monday. The case relating to the extradition request of his client was called before the court of Port-Louis on Monday. At the outset, Me Yatin Varma requested that Franklin not be extradited to Reunion until the court has made its decision in the case. The representative of the Attorney General’s office, who filed the extradition request in court, did not object. Yatin Varma then said that assurance has been given that Franklin will remain on Mauritian territory as long as the case is before the courts. The case will be called again this Thursday. Franklin will have to say whether he accepts or counters the extradition request.
