Franklin Case: John Rider Arrested

Must Read

The Anti-Corruption Commission summoned Hassenjee Karamuth, alias John Rider, on Thursday for questioning. Afterwards, the inquiring officers informed him that he is under arrest. John Rider is suspected of being another proxy of Jean Hubert Celerine, alias Franklin. He is represented by his lawyer, Samad Goolamally. It should be recalled that John Rider is the owner of the Ford Mustang in which Nico le Mimi was seen when he was in Mauritius. Hassenjee Karamuth has been summoned by the ICAC. It is believed that he will be arrested and brought before the Court  on Thursday.

Franklin financed the stay of Laurent Mariaye, from Réunion Island, in Mauritius

The Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC) has been able to establish the link between Franklin and Laurent Mariaye. The latter had been sentenced to four years in prison in Reunion Island. The investigators were able to find documents showing that Franklin had paid for the stay of the Reunionese and his father-in-law in Mauritius. The latter had stayed in a hotel in the South-West. The hotel officials confirmed that Franklin had also stayed with the two Reunionese. As a reminder, this case concerns the seizure of 140 kilos of cannabis on the sister island in 2017. The drugs were destined for the Mauritian market. Two Mauritians, Franklin and Nono, as well as six other Réunionese, including Laurent Mariaye, were involved in this case.  Franklin and Nono were sentenced to 7 years in prison each in Reunion Island.
