Former Russian Navy Captain Killed In Krasnodar

Must Read

An ex-submarine captain from Russia who was a mobilisation officer has been shot dead during jogging exercise in Krasnodar, a city in Southern Russia. He reportedly oversaw the Russian navy’s Krasnodar submarine, so named after the city.

As per the postulations by many Russian media outlets, the perpetrators must have find out about 42-year-old Stanislav Rzhitsky from his data on the fitness app Strava. Russian investigators have arrested one man suspected to be involved in the murder, according to them. The suspect, named Serhiy Denysenko, was born in 1959 in the Ukrainian city of Sumy.

According to many Russian Telegram channels, Denysenko was the leader of the Ukrainian Karate Federation.  Russian Telegram channel Baza has deep connection with the police. It reported that the suspect could possibly have tracked Rzhitsky’s trail on the fitness app as this was his routine route.

A video of the arrest was captured by the Investigations Committee but the face in the video is blurred. Later, CCTV footage purportedly showing Capt. Rzhitsky running in the morning while being pursued by a man on a bike was made public.

Stanislav Rzhitsky was gunned at the back and the chest in a park near the Olimp sports centre, Russian daily newspaper Kommersant reported. Myrotvorets, meaning peacemaker, has on its website Rzhitsky’s personal details. The website contains a massive data of those who are viewed as Ukraine’s enemies. His photograph on the website now has the word “liquidated” in bold red letters.

The park was vacant because of the heavy rain, according to a statement from Ukraine’s military intelligence, “so there are no witnesses who could provide details or identify the attacker.”

A Ukrainian interior ministry advisor named Anton Gerashchenko tweeted that Russian media had accused Ukraine of being involved, but he omitted to say whether or not this assumption was proven.

According to Russian news outlet Mash, the presence of Capt. Rzhitsky’s watch and headphones at the scene indicates that robbery was not the intended purpose.
