Fifty-Year-Old Drowns In Medina Agricultural Pond

An investigation has been opened at the police station of Flic en Flac to shed light on the circumstances in which Claudia Colfire, aged 40 years drowned in the basin of Medine Agricultural in the afternoon of Tuesday, March 7. The body of this resident of Tagore, L’Escalier was fished out by elements of the National Coast Guard (NCG) of Black River in this basin near the Tamarina Golf Course.

It is following a request that police officers from the police station of Flic en Flac went to this place. Divers from the NCG of Black River recovered the body of this 50-year-old woman from the pool before it was transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital in Candos for an autopsy. The autopsy was performed by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the legal department of the police at about 9 pm and attributed the death to asphyxiation due to drowning.

The victim’s cousin, Claudy Pierre, a 49-year-old gardener, told police investigators that the victim, who is his cousin, had been at his home in Tamarin since March 3. She left his home around 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 7 to go to Case Noyale. In the environment close to the victim it is said that she committed suicide.

The funeral of Claudia Colfire took place this Wednesday, March 8 at 12:30 pm. After the funeral ceremony at the church of Saint Benoit, she was buried in the cemetery of Black River.
