Rs 600,000 and Rs 550,000 respectively is the amount of cannabis seized from the possession of Jean Julio Alkay, 40 years old and his son Dylan Alkay, 19 years old during the day of Tuesday February 1st. It was during a raid carried out by men of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of Chemin Grenier at the home of these two inhabitants of cité EDC, Riambel.
It is on the basis of certain information to the effect that illicit transactions were taking place at the home of this family that this team of Adsu has after hours of surveillance made a search at this place. This information turned out to be true. Seven hundred and fifty grams of cannabis worth Rs 600 000 were found in the possession of Julio Alkay. His son was found with seven hundred grams of the same drug. The market value of the drug is Rs 550 000.
Two electronic scales were also seized during this police operation. Father and son, were arrested on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. It is expected that the two suspects will be brought before the court of Souillac after the lifting of the hurricane warnings.
