Fatal Accident In Tamarin: Lawyer Joe Beeharry Refuses To Submit To Alcotest

Dominique Claudio Bon, 37 years old, lost his life in an accident that occurred on Thursday evening, February 23. The car in which he was riding, a white Toyota, was involved in an accident with a black BMW driven by lawyer Joy Beeharry on Route Royale from La Mivoie to Tamarin. Another occupant of this Toyota, Richaud Sébastien Lolochon, 30 years old and living in La Preneuse, Black River, was seriously injured and tested positive for alcohol. He had 95 micrograms of alcohol in his breath. Both occupants of the Toyota were thrown from the vehicle by the impact of the collision. Shortly after, a Kia car, which was driving towards La Gaulette, was to collide with the Toyota. Its driver, Christophe Chabaud, 45 years old, who lives in îlot Fortier, La Preneuse, refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.

It was around 11:55 pm on the evening of Thursday, February 23 that this terrible accident occurred on the Route Royale in La Mivoie, Tamarin. The Toyota that Sebastien Lolochon was driving was hit head-on by the BMW. The lawyer Joy Beeharry, 52 years old, who was driving, abandoned his vehicle to flee.

He did, however, go to the Four Corners Police Station to report the accident, but refused to take a breathalyzer test. He went to the Fortis Darné clinic in Floréal where he was placed in an Emergency Ward.

Meanwhile in La Mivoie, Sebastien Lolochon, who was injured, was lying on the right side of the road facing Tamarin while Dominique Bon was on the sidewalk. Elements of the Mauritius Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene of the accident. Sébastien Lolochon was transported to the Dr Yves Cantin Hospital in Black River on board an ambulance of the Emergency Medical Service. Dominique Bon was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital in Candos for an autopsy. The autopsy was performed this Friday morning, February 21, by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police, and attributed the death to a rupture of the aorta. Christophe Chabaud, the driver of the gray Kia car, was arrested and placed in a cell at the Black River police station.

Sebastien Lolochon was subsequently transferred to the hospital in Candos before undergoing surgery on Friday, February 24. The statement of the protagonists involved in this accident has not been taken yet.
