The Electoral Supervisory Commission and the Electoral Boundaries Commission have two new members, Yashvirsingh Roopun and Shadmeenee Mootien. Moreover, another member has seen her contract being renewed on the same two institutions. The announcement was made by the State House in a statement issued this afternoon. It is stressed, in that statement, that these appointments were made after consultation with the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and leaders of other political parties. Yashvirsingh Roopun, who is close to the MSM, replaces Dev Cowreea whereas Shadmeenee Mootien replaces Narghis Bundhun.
The contract of Dev Cowreea and Nargis Bundhun has not been renewed. As for Vedita Peerun, another close MSM supporter, her contract has been renewed. The chairman of the Electoral Supervisory Commission and the Electoral Boundaries Commission is Mr Yusuf Aboobaker. The members of the two institutions are: Désiré Basset, Shadmeenee Mootien, Yashvirsingh Roopun, Vedita Peerun, Georges André Robert and Ammanah Ragavoodoo.
