Electrician Arrested For Raping Child

Must Read

This 12-year-old middle school girl decided to break her silence to denounce a man who sexually abused her on December 25, 2019 and reoffended on Wednesday, January 19 in Camp Levieux, Rose-Hill. Suspect Jason Babylon, a 31-year-old electrician, was arrested this Thursday, Jan. 27, and was arraigned in Rose-Hill court this Friday, Jan. 28. A provisional charge of rape has been filed against him. Jason Babylon was taken back to the police cell.

It is through a policewoman assigned to the brigade for the protection of minors that this student in grade 7 made her statement. The statement was recorded in the presence of her mother, a cook in her thirties, and an officer of the Family Welfare Protection Officer of the Child Development Unit. In great detail, the child recounted how on January 19, 2022, (although she does not remember the exact time), Jason Babylon, a resident of Camp Creole, Albion, who is her aunt’s boyfriend, came to her grandmother’s house where she was watching TV in a bedroom. The 30-year-old forcibly grabbed her before pushing her onto the bed. He then placed a hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming. He forcibly removed the girl’s clothes before sexually abusing her.

The girl also told this policewoman that on December 25, 2019, when she was only ten years old, her aunt’s boyfriend had abused her for the first time while everyone was sleeping at her home. Jason Babylon had threatened her not to report him.

The girl was admitted to the Victoria Hospital, Candos, where the protocol for victims of sexual abuse has been put in place. It was around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, that Jason Babylon was apprehended by a team from the Field Intelligence Office of the Western Division.
