Must Read

We all breathe again!

The 1 st of July will be synonym of a new breath in our lives. The Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, has announced easing of restrictions in various sectors and levels. Yet it does not mean that everything comes back to normal. With this comes a tedious list of measures and regulations to be taken into account and people should strictly abide to sanitary protocols.

50 persons Max

Social gatherings of a maximum of 50 persons will now be allowed, is the headline of this ease of restrictions. Restaurants and food courts can resume activities but will have to respect a 2 meters distance between the tables and ensure a proper ventilation of the place. Same for places of worship, or for organisation of cultural and social events, and for funerals and marriage ceremonies. Community and social centres, Citizens Advice Bureaus, and Village Halls will operate on an alphabetical order system. Sports activities will be allowed, and Fitness centres will be opened, but not accessible for under 18. All markets and fairs, gardens, parks and public beach will be accessible for activities including walking and swimming but not for any kind of picnic.

Race Courses will be opened for activities but only on camera. Nighclubs, cinema theatres, casinos and gaming houses will however remain closed until further notice.

Better 50 than nothing

The news is only rejoicing since our economic can take another turning point and people can stop suffocating. As points out creative in Events and Restaurants, Javed Vayid, “it is a particularly exciting turn of events, for businesses, employees and people in general. It will be a lot more productive than the last ease of restriction; we can expect a less paranoiac atmosphere since more people are vaccinated. As operators, we can only hope that things go as well as in other big countries”. Owning the Irish, which will operate strictly as a Restaurant under the regulations of the protocols and the chains of Jacksons American Burgers, Nihao and Istanbul present in numerous food courts in Malls around the country where settings will be under the managements ‘responsibility. “This bring good vibes to businesses and people concerned in the authorised list, until full reopening in October where we all will have greater expectations. It is better to have 50 people than nothing,” he says.

520 000 inoculated Mauritians

“At today’s count we have reached the milestone of 520 000 inoculated Mauritians and we only hope that the Covid contamination will be better monitored and controlled. We count on the social and civic responsibility, vigilance and discipline of each and every one during this ease of restriction phase,” says Dr Zuberr Joomye from the Covid 19 High Level Committee.

Control under Quarantine Act

This ease of restrictions is the preparation of the reopening of our borders. All this being possible thanks to the fact that 40 % of the population is already vaccinated. The government is proceeding with a lot more assurance. Nevertheless, the police will closely monitor all the activities and circulation. The public will be controlled under measures stipulated in the Quarantine Act
