Drug Trafficking: Roche-Bois Salesman Arrested With Rs 18 Million Of Heroin

A police raid carried out in Cité Roche-Bois on Thursday, September 01, led to the arrest of a 41-year-old salesman on a drug trafficking charge. The raid, conducted by the Special Patrol Team (SPT) of the Metropolitan Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU), resulted in the arrest of Michée Quirin after he was found in possession of 23 parcels of heroin, amounting to 1.2 kilos. The street value of the drug is Rs 18 million.

It is on the basis of certain information and after days of surveillance that this SPT team, led by Sergeant Yan Sung Fong, arrived at the home of Michée Quirin, also known as Shane, at around 9.30 a.m. on Thursday, September 01. The search resulted in 23 parcels of heroin wrapped in plastic and tape being found by the police officers under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Sharir Azima, the acting boss of the ADSU in the absence of Assistant Commissioner of Police Choolun Bhojoo, who is out of the country, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Salim Hossanee. The indicative gross weight of the drugs is 1.2 kilos.

The suspect was taken to the ADSU headquarters at Central Barracks for questioning. The seized drug exhibit will subsequently be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Reduit for analysis.

Michée Quirin, who was taken into custody, will be brought before the Port Louis court this Friday morning, September 2. A provisional charge of drug trafficking will be laid against him.
