Cycling: Yannick Lincoln Distances Himself From The National Team

Must Read

The six-time winner of the Tour of Mauritius cycling, Yannick Lincoln, announced this Sunday on his Facebook page that he will no longer be part of the national cycling selection. Å seven months before the Indian Ocean Games (IOG) 2023 in Madagascar, his experience would certainly have been beneficial for the MCB Mauritius team.

Yannick Lincoln, 40 years old, is probably the greatest cyclist Mauritius has ever known, both in his consistency and his versatility. Sometimes cyclist, sometimes mountain biker, he has been since his first Tour de Mauritius won in 2005 a regular of podiums and big events. Qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in cross-country mountain biking, he had unfortunately suffered an accident during training and was unable to compete. His most beautiful gold medal remains without doubt the one won in the road race at the JUIOI 2015 in Reunion Island.

On his Facebook page he says: “Against my will certainly, but an end that at one time or another should have happened. Thank you to those who have supported me during these long years punctuated by great disappointments and great joys.

However, Yannick Lincoln, director of the Côte-d’Or high performance center, is not giving up competition. “I am not giving up my passion and will continue to compete as long as my obligations as a family man allow me to do so,” he wrote.

If Yannick Lincoln has collected victories and titles at the national level, there is one that he misses. It’s the Mauritius Road Race Champion title. At 40 years old, he still has the legs to go for the last piece of the puzzle.
