The first round of the Vital cross country league took place this Saturday, August 21 at the Wellness Park in Sodnac, Four Corners.
In the senior men’s category, Abhishek Custnea of Port-Louis Racers AC won in 16’48” over a distance of 5 km. He beat his clubmate Shyaveen Dussaram, 17’05” and Divesh Dyal of Highlands AC, 17’31”. This is my first competition of the year. I am satisfied to get out of it with a victory” said the winner.
In the senior women’s category, Sonia Soodon of Quatre-Bornes AC, got off to a good start in defending her title by winning the 4km race in a time of 15’54”. “The victory was relatively easy to acquire despite the difficulties of the course,” she said. Rebekah Babajee of Port-Louis Racers AC and Isabelle Delord of Soulliac AC completed the podium in 20’11” and 21’56 respectively.
The second round will be held next Saturday, August 28, in Flic en Flac starting at 9am.
