Covid 19: Three More Schools Closed

Must Read

Two primary schools and one college have been closed for disinfection. A grade 2 student from Camp-Diable Government School was positive. All the students were sent home after informing their parents. At the Swami Sivananda in Tyack, Rivière-des-Anguilles, it is a Grade 4 lady teacher who tested positive yesterday, but the communication has not yet been made publicly. Parents heard this news at the start of the school year on Friday. At New Eton College in Rose Hill, a grade 12 student tested positive yesterday, along with members of his family. The college closed its doors during the day.

The concern is growing, and the panic is constant among parents of students not only with the multiplication of cases detected in schools across the country, and outside the red zones but also with the delay in communication. The targeted schools are closed, and a disinfection operation is certainly done, as promised by the VPM Dookun Lutchoomun. However, some become hesitant to allow their children to go to school. What will happen from next week? The debate is already open for the closure of all schools.

In a statement to the press, the former director of health services said that only a temporary closure of schools would limit the spread of the virus. He even said he does not understand the ministry’s position of continuing to put students’ health at risk and exposing uninfected students and their parents to the risk of isolation.

At the last count of this Friday 09, we have 30 new cases distributed on the island. The latest being in the southern part of the country where has been registered 2 cases in Rose-Belle, 1 case in Britannia, 1 case in Union Park, 2 cases in New France and 2 cases in Cluny.
