Covid 19: 439 Active Cases, A New Record!

Must Read

Mauritius had 70 new covid cases as for yesterday, 13 July. 44 positive cases are from the Princes Tuna (Mauritius) Ltd dormitory in Triolet.

It concerns already vaccinated Bangladesh factory workers. They have been sent in quarantine and their dormitories have been disinfected. There has been mass testing in the factory to ground-up any new symptomatic person and contact-tracing exercises are still in process.

Another mass testing operation has been held at the Camp Diable Village Hall, the very place where parents have decided to refrain from sending their kids to school. All the Camp Diable Government School students did not go through the testing process there, a majority preferred to go for testing in hospitals. They are many parents and school personnel waiting for a response from the Ministry of Education about the temporary closure of that school.

No formal communication

The Ministry of Education has not announced the closure of any new school or college. Still, it is not sure if all the establishments in disinfection process will open or not tomorrow or the students will be sent back home after arriving on school premises. They concern the Hindu Girls, LCQB, LCPL, SSS Goodlands Boys, SSS Mootoocoomaren Sangeelee, Mauritius College, D.Basant Rai Goverment School and Camp Diable Government School.

“We have not received any reply to our communications the ministries of Health or Education nor any official or non-official information. It will only be after the Ministry of Health get the necessary guarantee of the tests that it will give the go to the Ministry of Education, for the opening of the concerned establishment. We will have to wait for tomorrow morning for any development. Then only we will be able to evaluate the situation” says Bhojeparsad Jughdamby president of the UPSEE.
