Covid 19 : 4 Deaths Recorded

The trend is downwards. For this week, the Health Ministry records a decrease of 36, from 216 to 180 via PCR tests.  The number of deaths is, on the other hand, on the rise, i.e. 4 deaths against 2 last week. Cases in Agaléga have increased from 109 to 115.

9 fewer admissions

The New ENT Hospital has 30 patients admitted during the week, 9 less than last week. 6 are on ventilation, of which only 1 is vaccinated and 5 are unvaccinated, 2 patients are on oxygen, of which only 1 is fully vaccinated and 1 partially vaccinated, and 22 people are admitted to the ward. The 4 deaths, announced by the Vacoas treatment centre, concern unvaccinated patients over 60 years of age with comorbidities.

In Agaléga, there are 111 are local cases and 4 cases concern Indian nationals. These are Rapid Antigen test results.

As far as Monkeypox is concerned, the PCR tests at the Central Health Laboratory did not reveal any suspect cases.

The Central Health Laboratory received the results of 177 positive samples taken between 18 June and 27 June. 166 were sent to the NICD in South Africa and 11 samples from Rodrigues were sequenced at the CHL in Candos. The results show that BA.5 is the most present in our territory with 67 cases, followed by BA.2 with 46 cases, BA.4 with 42, 18 cases of BE.1, 2 cases of BA.2.12.1, 1 case of BF.5 and 1 case of BA.1

Vaccination to date

Vaccination continues to progress with 1,013,198 people having received their first dose and the rate of the second dose is 979,250. For Booster Dose I, 240,203 people have been inoculated with Johnson & Johnson, 8,816 with Sinopharm, 2,825 with Astra Zeneca, 270,682 with Pfizer and 109,532 with Moderna. For Booster Dose II, 14,181 people were inoculated with Pfizer, 363 with Moderna, 9 with Johnson & Johnson and 1 with Sinopharm. For the adolescent campaign, 75,779 received the first dose of Pfizer and 69,769 the second dose. For the pediatric dose, i.e. pupils aged 5 to 11 years, the Ministry announced a total of 12,874 children inoculated for the first dose and 9,748 for the second.

In Rodrigues, 76.25% of the population received the first dose, 72.69% the second and 15,610 the third.
