Covid 19 news for the past week reports three deaths. The trend remains downward for the positivity rate with 68 local cases and 18 imported cases recorded during the PCR tests. Vaccination is on the rise, especially in the 5-11-year-old age group
The trend remains downward for the admission rate as well. Covid wards in regional hospitals are being gradually disbanded. The New ENT Hospital has registered 9 patients during the week and all are on oxygen. 5 of them are unvaccinated, 2 partially and 2 completely. As for the three deaths recorded from the same treatment centre, no further details have been released on their condition.
Vaccination is steadily increasing with 1,010,226 people having received their first dose and the rate of the second dose is 977,105. For Booster Dose I, 624,949 people have been inoculated, including 240,202 at Johnson & Johnson, 8,810 at Sinopharm, 2,825 at Astra Zeneca, 267,381 at Pfizer and 105,731 at Moderna. For Booster Dose II, 8,571 people were inoculated, including 8,410 at Pfizer, 153 at Moderna, 7 at Johnson & Johnson and 1 at Sinopharm. For the adolescent campaign, 75,437 received the first dose of Pfizer and 69,308 the second. For the pediatric dose, i.e. pupils aged 5 to 11 years, the Ministry announced a total of 6,428 children inoculated.
In Rodrigues, 73.23% of the population received the first dose, 72.1% the second and 15,205 the third.
