Cooperation: Agreement Signed With The Chamber Of Commerce And Industry Of Côte d’Ivoire

The Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in South Africa organized “Les journées ivoiriennes”, at the Caudan Arts Centre in Port-Louis. Spread over two days, October 27 and 28, 2022, the event had as its theme: “Côte d’Ivoire – Mauritius: Weaving innovative partnerships for shared growth.”

Sakaria Kone; the Director General of the Investment Promotion Center in Côte d’Ivoire, Ms. Solange Amichia; representatives of the Economic Development Board (EDB) as well as economic operators from both countries were present at the opening ceremony.

The President of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Ms. Namita Jagarnath Hardowar and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire (CCI-CI), Mr. Faman Toure, signed a memorandum of understanding, defining the main areas of cooperation.

The objective of the agreement is mainly to promote business relations between the economic operators of Cote d’Ivoire and Mauritius. Thus the two Chambers of Commerce and Industry undertake to encourage, develop and promote any form of collaboration in relation to economic activities and investment of their respective countries. This collaboration provides for the development of events such as economic missions, the organization of fairs or the holding of exhibitions.

In addition, during the ceremony, the Honourable Mr. Siandou Fofana read the message of the Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Diaspora of Côte d’Ivoire, Ms. Kandia Kamissoko Camara.

For his part, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, His Excellency Mr. Sakaria Kone, pointed out that this event gives a new impetus to the economic partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and Mauritius. “These days are a real platform to present the Ivory Coast and create a channel of exchange and business relations between the two countries,” he said.

The second part of the morning was devoted to a series of presentations on the climate and business environment of the two countries. Ms. Solange Amichia focused on investment opportunities in Côte d’Ivoire while Mr. Faman Touré gave an overview of the Ivorian private sector. Ms. Rooma Pillay Narrainen, Head of Advocacy at MCCI, presented business opportunities between Mauritius and Côte d’Ivoire. Mr. Vinay Guddye, Director of Global Outreach at EDB also participated by highlighting the investment opportunities in Mauritius.
