Classical Music: Nouchine Schopfer Proposes A Journey

Must Read

Swiss pianist Nouchine Schopfer will be giving a piano recital at the Caudan Arts Centre on October 19 at 7:30 p.m., spanning different periods from the Italian Baroque, through the Golden Age of Classicism in Vienna, to 20th-century France, Spain and Hungary.

The composers chosen by the pianist for this recital have all left an important mark on the history of music, and are all stalwarts of piano music.

Scarlatti, for example, calls on all the pianist’s virtuosity to delight us with the lightness and freshness of his music.

Two works by Mozart will be on offer: the Fantaisie en ré mineur K.397 – a serious piece with dramatic overtones, and the Rondo en Ré Majeur K.485 – a more cheerful piece.

Works by Claude Debussy, Manuel de Falla and Bélà Bartòk, who devoted his life to collecting the folk music heritage of his native Hungary, also feature in the program.

Tickets are on sale at : Rs 1000, Rs 800 and Rs 600.
