China Today And The Perspectives Of Sino-Mauritian Cooperation

Must Read

L’Amicale Maurice-Chine held a webinar on the topic: China today and the perspectives of Sino-mauritian cooperation. Kee Chong Li Kwong Wing, the president of L’Amicale spoke about the resolutions of the 6th Plenum of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party held in Beijing from November 8 to 11. He explained the historical record of the 100 years of struggle of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CCP to win national independence and help the emancipation of oppressed people around the world. He emphasized the necessary decisions and efforts made by the CCP to build a modern socialist country in a people’s democracy and lift the people out of poverty.

Today, China has made great progress in the political, diplomatic, economic, social, educational, scientific, technological and even space fields. It can no longer be oppressed or enslaved by others. It is sovereign in the conduct of its own destiny. It continues to strive for Chinese-style modernization with common prosperity and works for the construction of a community of destiny for mankind. Mr. Li wishes to consolidate the friendship between the Chinese and Mauritian people through exchanges and study visits between socio-cultural associations, sports clubs, schools, NGOs, chambers of commerce, and other people’s organizations. We have a lot to learn from China and to debunk all the propaganda and misinformation peddled by the mainstream media, especially in the West, to counter the emergence of China as a truly sovereign state and friend of developing nations.

Here is a brief of speech of the Chinese Ambassador, H.E. ZHU Liying :

100 years of history of the Chinese Communist Party

I would rather share with you some personal reflections, with the aim of strengthening the ties between our two countries, and strengthening the role of political parties to contribute to the good governance of the State”, said Zhu Liying at the beginning of his speech.

First thought, it is always necessary to strengthen the central core of the party and the guideline of party theory. Mao Zedong was the mastermind of the authority of the Communist Party of China (CCP) Chairman. He defeated the Japanese invaders and Jiang Kaichek’s American-backed nationalists. This is how we founded an independent people’s republic. It was only from that moment that the evolution of history turned in favour of revolution.

After such a long and arduous struggle, we Chinese, like you Mauritians, understand how important our national independence is. The Dutch, French, and English occupied Mauritius for three centuries. Since the Opium War in 1840, all foreign countries have had a foothold in China, and today all of these nations have become teachers, lecturing on democracy and human rights...”

Moving to the post-Cultural Revolution period, Comrade Deng Xiaoping was another generation of strong and determined leader. Thanks to him and his policy of reform and opening-up, China has rid itself of ideological disputes, class struggle and underdevelopment. According to him, socialism does not mean poverty. The economy must take off and the population must get richer as quickly as possible.

Xi Jinping is a clairvoyant, lucid and determined captain to lead his ship firmly in the right direction. In a tormented ocean that is the extremely complex international situation which has not been experienced since the end of the 2nd war. Yes, the authority of management is so important to the governance of a country.

Comrade Xi Jinping has set two long-term goals, namely getting rid of absolute poverty for the entire population of 1.4 billion souls in 2021 and becoming a modern socialist power by 2050. To do this, one must maintain self-confidence, stay the course, work hard, and remain faithful to socialism with Chinese style.

Mauritius must play a more active and innovative role in this forward-looking cooperation between China and Africa. Mauritius’ joining the New Silk Road initiative will be a great opportunity to strengthen this process. Both sides must join efforts to ensure that Africa benefits from the “high-speed train” of the Chinese economy.

My 2nd personal reflection concerns the links that the political party must establish and maintain with its people. The Communist Party of China (CPC) was founded by a dozen people 100 years ago. Today, its members have more than 93 million, because the party is representative of the entire people. Comrade Xi Jinping is very clear: the starting point and mission of the CPC is to bring happiness to the people.

In times of war as in times of peace, it is always the people who support the CCP. In the face of the Japanese invaders and the nationalists of Jiang Kaichek, we won thanks to the people’s war. In economic construction, reform and opening-up, it has been thanks to hard work, resilience and creativity that the Chinese economic miracle has been achieved.

What is the greatest risk of singing these flesh-and-blood ties between the party and the people? Corruption of course! Corruption is a natural and international phenomenon. Comrade Xi Jinping is very determined to wipe out corruption wherever it occurs. The question for the governance of a country is whether the determination is strong in the fight against corruption.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has appealed to all its members, especially its top cadres, to remain vigilant and disciplined, and to prepare for harsh trials. “Difficulties make you stronger, while pleasures corrupt,” says the party’s philosophy, according to Mao Zedong.

I am sure that as long as there are cadres who serve the people in a sincere and concrete way, the links between the people and the party will never be cut. Translated into Chinese and by a quote from Mao Zedong, it is simply “Serving the People“.

I see that we have so much in common in the management of the country. This strengthens my willingness and mobility to continue to work in close cooperation with you, associations, the media, NGOs and political parties. End of speech…
