CEB Plans To Review Salary Scale Of Its Employees

Must Read

The Central Electricity Board (CEB) intends to review the salary scale and the conditions of service of the employees of this parastatal body. It is looking for a consulting firm to undertake this task. The firm will review pension funds, existing collective agreements, the financial situation and the possibility of consolidating positions. In addition, the firm will be called upon to make a comparison between the salary level prevailing at the CEB and those of other parastatals in the country.

This firm will be responsible for conducting a systematic job evaluation to determine the value of a job in relation to other jobs in an organization in order to establish a rational salary structure. Conduct a benchmarking exercise regarding salaries, wages and benefits with other similar organizations in Mauritius and recommend a new salary structure and conditions of service to be effective as of July 1, 2021, while considering CEB’s capacity to pay. Review the various allowances in place and recommend their removal or replacement based on their relevance and actual contribution,

The firm will also review various allowances as well as the Performance Management System and the Productivity Bonus Scheme. It will also review the actuaries’ reports on the CEB Staff Pension Fund and the CEB Manual workers Pension Fund. It will also initiate consultations with the unions representing workers’ interests before making recommendations. It will also be responsible for getting a new collective agreement signed between the CEB management and the workers and for preparing an Errors and Omissions/Clarifications Report if necessary. The CEB has set itself the goal of finding the aforementioned firm by August of this year.
