Cambridge Error Rectified: Request For Review By SEDEC

Must Read

The 37 HSC 2020/2021 students from St Esprit College and New Eton College have finally received their results on Thursday afternoon at 1.30pm. The results are now being accounted for at the Main. However, these students will not all benefit from the same privileges. SEDEC is requesting a new Cambridge review for all those students in this year’s Design and Technology intake.

Of the 37 students, 7 obtained an A+ and were thus ranked, 1 from New Eton College and 6 from Saint Esprit College. The reason for this anomaly was that Cambridge Examination International had marked one of the Design and Technology papers that these 37 students had competed for as Advanced Subsidiary Level (ASL) instead of ‘Main Level’. This penalizes the students who were competing for a scholarship. Ranked students are forced to accept such a fate.

This is an injustice that the Diocesan Catholic Education Service (SEDEC) intends to address. Director Gilberte Chung has appealed to the Ministry of Education to askCambridge for a general review of the results of all competitors in this subject, but also to make the list of rankings ‘accessible’, so that those ranked can better situate themselves. To be continued…
