The Gosto family of Grande Pointe aux Piments is devastated. This Thursday, February 3, they learned that a tragic accident struck one of their own, Ranjeet Gosto, 54, a driver with Triolet Bus Service (TBS) Ltd, also known as Sonalall and also known as Son Gosto. The victim who was on a motorcycle was about to go to his workplace to take the service after the lifting of cyclone warnings of Betsirai. His motorcycle hit a filao tree that fell across the road to Trou aux Biches.
It is following a request that a team of police officers from the police station of Trou aux Biches, led by sergeant Hoober went to the Coastal Road of Trou aux Biches shortly after 5 o’clock this Thursday morning, February 3rd. Not far from the hotel Le Récif, these police officers found an inert body on this road. A blue Suzuki motorcycle was also lying on the road. A tree had fallen across the road and debris from the motorcycle was scattered on the asphalt.
A garnet colored bag, a pair of soaps and a blue helmet were recovered from the scene. This road was slippery and impassable for road use as observed by this police team. The police immediately called for an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service. The doctor on board unfortunately had to declare Ranjeet Gosto dead.
His body was taken to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis for an autopsy.
One of his work colleagues who was driving on the same road saw the victim hit this filao tree. Indignant this man posted the images of this accident on his Facebook page and deplored that this road is not lit and especially that it was necessary to take into consideration the safety of people before removing the cyclone warnings in the dark.
The victim was married and father of two children, including a daughter. This one got married last year.
