British Foreign Secretary Truss To Visit India Amid Russia Concerns

The British Ministry of External Affairs said Truss would hold consultations with her Indian counterpart External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest. There has been a flurry of visits to India by several leaders, including Foreign Ministers of Austria and Greece and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, in the past few weeks.

Western countries have been urging neutral states to change their stance on Russia over its attack on Ukraine and warning of repercussions for helping Moscow to bypass economic restrictions. New Delhi has so far refused to join sanctions and declined to come out against Moscow

Truss and her Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, will discuss “bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Monday.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will visit India on Thursday as Western countries have been urging neutral states to change their stance on Russia over its attack on Ukraine and warning of repercussions for helping Moscow to bypass economic restrictions.
