Must Read

A 47-year-old police officer was placed in a drunk tank on Tuesday evening, February 13, after testing positive for alcohol. He had 86 micrograms of alcohol in his breath. The 4×4 driven by the L’Escalier resident was involved in an accident with a contract van carrying four Brinks’ security guards. In Casernes Centrales circles, it is rumoured that this Traffic Branch policeman, who is assigned to the team escorting the Vice-President of the Republic, will be transferred shortly.

At around 7:30 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday February 13, a team of police officers from the Plaine Magnien police station, led by Sergeant Chellamootoo, arrived on Route Royale de Solitude. A white contract van and a grey Ford 4×4 collided. The contract van was driven by a 33-year-old contractor from Petit Bel Air. It was coming from the direction of Plaine Magnien towards Mahebourg. At the same time, the 4×4 emerging from a cane path in the direction of Plaine Magnien collided with it.

Both drivers were taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. The breathalyzer test performed on the policeman was positive. He had 86 micrograms of alcohol in his breath. The four Brinks’ security guards, including one woman, were taken to Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose Belle for treatment before being allowed to return home.

During the accident, a metal pylon of the airport’s metal fence was damaged.
