The third dose requirement came into force on 19 February, but to date, only 464,924 people have received their third dose, barely half of those vaccinated twice. The regulation, contained in the Consolidated Covid-19 Regulations 2021 amendment dated 22 December 2021, already poses a problem with 1 in 2 vaccinees in breach of this Regulation.
A real booster dose
The vaccination card or the digital pass is required to access many shops, restaurants, hospitals, the port and airport area, police stations, administrative places, various authorities… everywhere. With this imposition of the third dose to be considered as an individual with a complete vaccination scheme, more than half of the population of the vaccinated are penalized, they are banned from access if the card does not show that the person has received his third dose. The 19 February deadline has not been extended because it was already an extension of the previous 15 January deadline. According to the figures, about 185,000 people will have had their booster doses during this period. For the rest, nothing to be done, they will have to stay in violation until their Booster dose!
However, some will benefit from concessions. This is for those who have not been vaccinated, or who have received their second dose less than 4 months ago or the Johnson & Johnson dose less than 6 months ago. Or if the person was infected with Covid 19 after their second dose and must wait 1 month for their booster dose.
Fall in positivity rate
In the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has recorded a drop in the rate of positive cases, to 78 cases as of Monday 21. Regional hospitals have admitted 41 patients and the New ENT Hospital, 2 admissions. Vaccination continues with 996,835 people for the first dose, 958,768 for the second and 464,924 for the third/booster dose.
Rodrigues
In Rodrigues the number of positive cases for February 21 is 102. The total number of positive cases since January 26 is thus 7753. 4991 are considered cured. The number of active cases is therefore 2754. However, as of yesterday, there were 10 deaths related to covid in the island.
