Belal: At 3pm, 17,000 Homes Were Without Electricity

Must Read

Yesterday, Port-louis seems to have regained his activity although all roads were quite. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government Anwar Husnoo says that he assumes his share of responsibility. He added that the authorities should have provided a more efficient service. As chairman of the National Crisis Committee, he explains he is responsible for overseeing and coordinating risk reduction and disaster management activities. However, he insists, all decisions taken by the committee are based on data from the meteorological station. Anwar Husnoo also reacted to the resignation of the director of the Vacoas weather station. Ram Dhurmea has resigned as Director, as announced by the Prime Minister in a statement to MBC.

These houses are found mainly in the South, Vacoas and Quartier Militaire. CEB teams will be working until very late to reconnect as many customers as possible. At the peak of the power cuts this morning, some 45,000 homes were without electricity. However, with the withdrawal of Alert 4, CEB teams deployed across the island to restore connections. Until now, the priority has been on large zones, while individual cases will be taken into account at a later stage.

Eight births recorded during the passage of Belal

While Mauritius was on alerts three and four, the hospital emergency service continued to operate. The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that 796 patients visited hospitals during the cyclone period. At the SSR hospital, 24 cases of falls and injuries were recorded. Moreover, eight babies were born during the passage of Belal.
