BATSIRAI Will Pass North Of Mauritius According To Some Forecasts

Must Read

It seems that BATSIRAI will pass north of Mauritius if we look at the trajectories of some French and American websites. Here is the forecast of Météo France:

BATSIRAI is a simple tropical storm, located still quite far east of the Mascarene Islands (a little more than 1000 km from Rodrigues) and does not present any immediate threat and until Sunday included. –

The Moderate Tropical Storm BATSIRAI was pointed by the C.M.R.S. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 4:00 am (Reunion time) at 1670 km east of the coast of Reunion. It was moving westward at a speed of 17 km/h.

It should continue its overall movement westward during the next few days, approaching the Mascarenes, with a passage near the north of Rodrigues envisaged around next Monday, then a trajectory approaching Mauritius from Wednesday, with a potentially significant intensity: risk of observing a mature tropical system near inhabited lands. – Nevertheless, the forecast of intensity and trajectory is still very uncertain. It is therefore too early to detail the precise impacts expected on the Mascarene Islands. The inhabitants of Rodrigues, Mauritius and Reunion are thus invited to keep informed of the evolution of BATSIRAI, with a significant deterioration of the weather and sea conditions during the next week, the extent of which remains to be specified.
