Barkly City Painter Arrested For Drug Trafficking

A raid by police from the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the West Division in Cité Barkly, Beau Bassin led to the arrest of a 27-year-old painter on a drug trafficking charge. This after three hundred and thirty doses of synthetic drugs and 10.5 grams of the same drug were seized from the home of Olivier Emmanuel Vincent Cédric L’Emplâtre. The street value of these drugs is Rs 85,500.

The Adsu team, led by Inspector Balamba, carried out the raid on Tuesday August 22. They had received information that this suspect was involved in illicit activities. After hours of surveillance, a raid was carried out on the painter’s home in Cité Barkly.

Three hundred and thirty doses of synthetic drugs and 10.5 grams of the same drug were found. Olivier L’Emplâtre was placed in a cell at the Vacoas detention center. On Wednesday August 23, he was brought before the Rose Hill court on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. He was subsequently kept in his cell.
