In fact, Bank of Baroda was the first Bank to Issue UPI QR Code to Merchant and Enabled Rupay Card acceptance for Cash Withdrawal in all BOB ATMs available in Mauritius.

Bank of Baroda Mauritius has taken a significant step towards enhancing the digital payment landscape in Mauritius with the introduction of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) QR Code acceptance & RuPay Card services. This initiative, a collaborative effort between the Bank of Mauritius (BOM) , NIPL & RBI aims to revolutionize the way for cross border QR based merchant transactions are conducted in the country.

RuPay Card, India’s homegrown global card network is now available for the Bank customers in Mauritius. Bank of Baroda Mauritius offers customers access to a wide network of ATMs and point-of-sale (POS) terminals across India and Mauritius by leveraging the MaUCAS platform (Mauritius Central Automated Switch). This move is expected to increase the competition in card service providers in Mauritius and ultimately benefit customers, merchants and the banks involved.

With the introduction of UPI services in Mauritius, Indian visitors to Mauritius will be able to make payments to local merchants using their Indian UPI mobile apps, such as bobworld UPI, BHIM UPI, Phonepay, G-pay etc, by following simple steps , enabling global transactions by UPI PIN validation, scanning the merchant’s UPI QR code and entering UPI PIN. This development, spearheaded by Bank of Baroda India, demonstrates the seamless integration of digital payment ecosystems across borders.

Similarly, Bank of Baroda Mauritius has ensured convenience for Mauritian tourists visiting India by offering UPI QR scanning feature in their mobile banking app i.e M-Connect Plus along with new features such as MauCas QR Scanning, Linking of Local Bank Account & Government payment. Additionally, with the issuance of RuPay debit cards, transactions will become even smoother, allowing for ATM withdrawals, POS, and e-commerce usage seamlessly.

The implementation of UPI merchant QR based payment acceptance and RuPay Card services in Mauritius is poised to ease cross- border transactions and enhance the overall payment experience for customers.
