Bangladesh HC Distributes Bangladeshi Food Items To Underprivileged Families

Bangladesh High Commission, Port Louis, Mauritius has distributed Bangladeshi food items to the underprivileged families during the Mourning Month of August. Bags of Bangladeshi food items were distributed among 35 (thirty-five) families at Naw-N-Sha Service, Valipito, in compliance with the sanitary protocol imposed by the Government of Mauritius for COVID-19. Vice Prime Minister of the Government of Mauritius and Minister of Local Government and Disaster Management, Mohammad Anwar Husnoo was present there as the Chief Guest. The program was attended by the print and electronic media personnel, prominent personalities from Mauritius and members of Bangladesh community.

In the beginning, a special munajat was offered for Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the members of his family, wishing of good health and longevity for the Hon’ble Prime Minister and happiness, peace and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh and Mauritius.

H.E. the High Commissioner Rezina Ahmed paid her deepest tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyrs, who were brutally murdered on the black night of 15th August, 1975. She pleaded, “May the Almighty accept the prayers of the families, who received the humanitarian assistance, offered in the honor of the martyred.”

She conveyed the Mission’s gratefulness to general people of Mauritius, who often offer food to Bangladeshi expatriate workers in the time of need. She hoped that such endeavours would strengthen the existing bondage between the people of the two countries.

At the outset, the Hon’ble Vice Prime Minister, Dr. Hasnu paid his homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and members of his family. He applauded the commendable initiative of the Bangladesh High Commission and added that the humanitarian assistance would help the families during this pandemic.
